Finally Some Adventure

As promised, I am posting some picture from my excursion to Lake Mývatn.
After two weeks of static living, I got to leave Akureyri for a bit.  I had not been that static since March back at Uni when I didn't leave Seattle. Soooo this trip was great since I was struggling with cabin fever in a sense.

Anyways, first we went to Goðafoss. It is a waterfall where all the pagan idols were thrown when the country converted to Christianity in 999 or 1000. You know, "back in the day." It was -14 degrees Celsius which is 6 Farenheit. So, it was a bit breezy I guess. The mist from the waterfall froze to my lens which was unfortunate for my photos, but it happens. Part of the water froze so I walked on top of a waterfall which is dope. The only not dope thing was that I thought my finger died when I took off the gloves to take an iPhone photo. It was worth it though for the sake of instagram (@stacielarsen).

Gisli next drove us to the Lake. For some reason I was incredibly energized so I was running all around in the snow. I was going up and down hills practically in circles. It was a blast. The lake was frozen over which I have never seen before. Some people thought it would be a good idea to walk on it. It wasn't a good idea seeing as the ice was probably only 3 inches thick. No one died though, so that's good.

Later in the day we went to part of the national park next to a giant crater. The park had all of these amazing lava structures with key holes and caves. We walked on a trail a few kilometers until we came to a lava foundation called Kirkjan which means church. It looks just like a chapel. My favorite part though was the fact that all of the trees were sparkly from the frost. I think all trees should be sparkly if I am truly honest. :)

I am a bit back logged with posts now so there should be another update in the near future.

Until then,
